Description Binding tape has been placed along the spine in an attempt to secure. Yellowing tape has been used around the edges of the page, presumably to protect the volume, however this has aged and begun to degrade. It is coming away in places. The name 'Julia Swanson' is that of Donald Sutherland Swanson's wife.

Summary POOR
Assessor HR
Notes Paperback volume bound by staples and repaired various times (crudely). The volume is visually very tatty with tears and creasing on both the front and rear pages. There is minimal discolouration/light damage thanks to a makeshift dustcover made from brown wrapping paper, presumably added by the family. The cover has an edging of yellowing cellotape which has degraded and is now yellowed and brittle, coming away from the page in areas. It is assumed that this was attempted in a good-willed act to protect the edges of the fragile paper. The binding has also shows some signs of attempted repair, yellow tape running vertically down the length of the spine. The spine also has 5 individual strips of woven tape going from back to front (across spine) to maintain some stability. This appears to have held the volume together over the years.

Summary POOR

Notes The binding appears to be via staples and internally the block is coming away from the spine, this can be seen on some of the internal pages where tearing has begun around the staples themselves. The staples have also begun to rust and this can be seen throughout. The internal pages are very yellow with some foxing and marking throughout. Certain stories have pencil marks suggesting a reader has marked out important or interesting elements of stories. The front cover also features the name 'Julia Swanson' in pencil.
